A lot of Nigerians have no clue how most Nigerian states got their names and i was in this category until i read through.
Did you know that most Nigerian states were named after Rivers? Na wah!
1. ABIA:
Abia is an acronym derived from the name of the four main groups of people in the state as at the time it was formed in 1991: Aba Bende Isuikwuato Afikpo
2. ADAMAWA:
This state was named after a warrior that conquered the region in the beginning of the 19th century. His name was Modibbo Adama Bin Ardo Hassan.
3. AKWA–IBOM:
Akwa Ibom is named after a river, the Qua Iboe (or Kwa Iboe) River.
4. ANAMBARA:
It was derived from the name of the Oma Mbal (Omambala)River (in Ibo, the native name of the river is Ànyịm Ọma Mbala).
5. BAUCHI:
There are three versions of how Bauchi got its name. One version says ‘Bauchi’ is Hausa word meaning the southern planks of Hausa land. Tribes living in the southern parts of the Hausa land were referred to as “kasashen bauchi” and
the area they lived in later came to be known simply as Bauchi.
According to the second version the state was named for Baushe, a famous hunter who settled there before the 19th century while the third states that ‘bauchi’ is Hausa word for slavery since it was a center for slave raiders.
6. BAYELSA:
Bayelsa was formed as a result of the clamour from the three LGAs in old River (Brass LGA known as BALGA, Yenegoa LGA known as YELGA and Sagbama LGA – SALGA).
The name came about from the combination of their
acronymns. BA+YEL+SA = BAYELSA.
7. BENUE:
It is a word from the Batta language ‘Binuwe’ which means ‘Mother of Waters’.
8. BORNO:
The name was derived from ‘Borno’, an alternative name of the Kanuris who form the predominant ethnic group in the state.

Named after the Bini people who had always referred to themselves as Edo or Iduu.
13. EKITI:
‘Ekiti’ is a term that is said to denote a settlement of many hills “Okiti”
14. ENUGU:

Wizkid Two years after leaving EME, singer is still making money for Banky W

That decision to get one more album from Wizkid is a masterstroke for EME, and has continued to fill their coffers with money from digital sales and streaming.

<img src=”http://static.pulse.ng/img/gist/origs3064760/1041851418-w640-h640/Wizkid-and-Banky-W.jpg”/>

Wizkid and Banky W (EME)
With the benefit and perspective that only time can afford us in hindsight,Wizkid’sdeparture from Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) is still one of the best music business decisions made by a Nigerian in recent years.
After signing for theBanky W-led house in 2009, the singer showed immense growth, releasing the classic ‘Superstar” album in 2011. That project has been rated as one the best pop albums to ever grace the Nigerian market. The album had numerous singles, with’Tease Me/Bad Guys’, ‘Don’t Dull’, ‘Gidi Girl,’ ‘Love My Baby’, ‘Pakurumo’ and’Oluwa Lo Ni’becoming continental hit singles.
Wizkid dropped his debut album, ‘Superstar’ was released in 2011. (Press)
In 2012, the agitation from Wizkid to take charge of his career started. The singer was fed up with limitations and the way his finances was setup. According to an insider, EME which is owned by Banky W and Segun Demuren gets 50% from his income; and Osagie Osarenkhoe Okunkpolor, Wizzy’s ex-manager who introduced him to Banky after big record labels like Mo-Hits and Storm records rejected him, also got 25% from his money. Osagie was later fired by Wizkid, installing Godwin Tom as his manager.
That feeling later led to an all-out issue which gathered reportage in 2013. Rumors flew about the bitterness in the camp. Wizkid has grown bigger than the label, and has set his sights on international penetration. It also didn’t help that he now possessed the Midas touch, turning everything into Gold. He had grown too big, and wanted more control over his career.
<img src=”http://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs5303214/2261856343-w640-h640/Pulse-Wizkid-Justine-Skye-.jpg”/>

Speaking toOlisa Adibuain 2014 on his relationship with the label that groomed and launched him into stardom, he said‘we are still family, we would still continue doing business together,Banky,TundeandSegun Demurenare all like my big brothers, it’s a family thing, so we’ll definitely keep doing business.’
When asked soon he’ll quit the label, Wizkid explained: ‘I’ve been with E.M.E for 5 years, so I don’t know what soon is, because when we started the wholeEmpire entertainmentthing, it was to build an empire so everyone could grow,Skalesis doing his thing, Banky is doing his thing too, we gotShaydeeandNiyola, I got Starboy going on, so everyone is just trying to expand and grow at the end of the day.’
‘Yes, this is pretty much my last album with E.M.E’ Wizkid declared.
The split happened that year, but under the condition that he releases one more album for EME. And so, the 2014 self-titled LP “Ayo (Joy)” was born. The album was preceded by the singles‘Jaiye Jaiye’,‘On Top Your Matter’,‘One Question’, ‘Joy’, ‘Bombay’and‘Show You the Money’. It later birthed the smash hit ‘Ojuelegba’ single.
That decision to get one more album from Wizkid is a masterstroke for EME, and has continued to fill their coffers with money from digital sales and streaming.
Wizkid (Tidal)
From its release date on iTunes, the album has stayed at the World Music iTunes Top albums charts selling at $9.99 dollars. With the absence of access to real data, we will have to rely on intelligent assumptions to get by. At the least, Wizkid’s “Ayo” album will rake in 50,000 copies. Multiplying that by the original price of $9.99, and we get $499, 500. Converting that into naira using the pre-inflation conversion rate of $1 = N190, and we get a whooping N94.5 million. Subtract the 30% Apple service charge of N28.3 million, and we get N66.6 million.
This figure above is exclusive of singles. But going deeper, we can also isolate the biggest single of the album, ‘Ojuelegba’, and provide a rough estimate for sales.
The song ‘Ojuelegba’, with all the Drake feature and promotion, which is sold at $0.99 on iTunes, will have probably sold a 100,000 copies, giving us $99,000. This gives EME the take home cash of N18 million.
Wizkid and Tinie Tempah on set (Instagram)
All of these is exclusive of streaming and other forms of publishing that have been carried out on the singles. There’s also Youtube and all its rewards and advertising systems.
Wizkid’s exploits in the international scene has brought more people globally gravitating to his music. That brings a lot of eyes on his last project available on digital platforms, with each stream and purchase continuously funnelling money into EME’s account. Throw that in with the rise of local stores e.g MTN Music Plus, and the CRBT gains, and you have quite the sum.
Wizkid has done well for himself, and so has EME too.

Here are 8 Sweet Things to Do After S*x – No. 4 Will Blow Your Mind

Some people feel all they have to do after s*x with their partners is to just get up and get out or sleep off, but they are so wrong.
Man and woman embracing on bed
There are plenty of things to do after s*x besides just going to sleep. Guys, if you are grasping at straws on things to do after s*x, I’ve got your guide right here! We’re going to explore all kinds of different things do to after s*x to make you connect with your partner that much more!
1. Cuddle
This is actually a standard right? Cuddling and spooning after s*x is one of the biggest ways to let your woman or even your man to know that you love them and that you two are better connected now. It’s much better than just simply turning over and falling asleep right?
2. Talk
One of the biggest things to do after s*x is talk. You don’t have to talk about the s*x, heck, you don’t even have to talk about anything really, just speaking to each other can rekindle the flame and even improve your communication. Why not talk about some of the fantasies that you might have or even talk about your future. It’s a great time to bring up important – but still light-hearted topics!
3. Reconnect
Reconnecting can happen in any number of ways. It can happen through talking, through touching and even just through cuddling, but the reconnecting that I am talking about is just laying there, staring at one another, maybe whispering little secrets or sharing confessions. This is the time that intimacy is at it’s highest!
4. Touch One Another
When you’re having s*x, you are obviously touching, but one of the things to do after s*x could be just small, subtle teasing little touches. A light touch to your man’s arm, a touch to his hand, a touch through his hair. It’ll all awaken the senses again and who knows where that can lead you!
5. Discuss Future Plans
Talking is a big part of reconnecting and after s*x, you want to make sure that you are reconnecting with your partner. Discussing things like your future is super important! Maybe you could talk about your hopes and dreams and what you think you might want to do in the future.
6. Bask In The Afterglow
After you have s*x, there is just a feeling and an afterglow that you can bask in. It’s one of the most wonderful feelings in the entire world right? Why not just bask in that feeling? Talk about it a little, look deep into each others eyes – trust me, it’s a great way to reconnect and an awesome thing to do after s*x!
7. Laugh
S*x doesn’t have to be all serious, in fact, you can actually have a bit of fun with it. After or even during s*x, why not have a good old laugh? You can tell secrets and jokes and even talk about some of the things that you did. Laugh it all off! It’ll make you closer and feel better about not being so serious!
8. Eat In Bed
S*x is a work out right? You burn a heck of a lot of calories and one way to replenish your body’s energy is to eat! So why not fix yourself a meal and eat it with your partner after s*x!
Ladies, s*x is supposed to be fun and should be a way for your partner and you to really connect and be close to one another.
