Leonardo Dicaprio Finally Got An Oscar Award: SEE PHOTOS

Leonardo DiCaprio has finally won his first Oscar for survival epic The Revenant, after six nominations.

He was named best actor at the 88th Academy Awards, with Brie Larson named best actress Oscar for Room.

Spotlight took home the best picture Oscar with Mad Max: Fury Road picking up the most awards of the night, with six accolades.

Mark Rylance won the best supporting actor Oscar, with fellow Briton Sam Smith winning best original song.

The ceremony had been boycotted by some Hollywood figures protesting about the lack of ethnic diversity among this year's nominees, as all 20 nominees in the best acting or supporting acting categories are white.

Host Chris Rock addressed the controversy head on as he launched the ceremony, and it was a theme that was returned to several times during the night.

Rock commented he had "counted at least 15 black people" in the montage that opened the ceremony, before welcoming people to the "white People's Choice awards".

"You realise if they nominated hosts, I wouldn't even get this job," he quipped. "Y'all would be watching Neil Patrick Harris right now."

Gianni Infantino has today been elected as the President of FIFA for the remainder of the current term of office (until 2019) by the Extraordinary FIFA Congress held in Zurich. He was elected as the ninth FIFA President after the second ballot with 115 of 207 total votes. In line with the FIFA Statutes, the mandate of the new FIFA President started after the conclusion of the Congress.

Elton John is one of the most outspoken musicians alive, and in a new Rolling Stone interview, he takes aim at one of the most popular female solo artists of all time. Because he prides himself on giving his all onstage, John is sensitive to others he feels do not hold themselves to the same standards. "You know, f##king music magazines writing a review of Janet Jackson saying, 'This is the greatest show—four and a half stars.' It's f##king lip-synced! Hello! That's not a show!" John, 68, says. Jackson, who is currently on a world tour in support of her eleventh studio album, Unbreakable, has not yet responded to John's allegations; E! News has reached out to the 49-year-old "No Sleeep" singer's rep for comment.

More than a decade ago, John made similar lip-syncing claims about Madonna. "I say what I feel," he tells Rolling Stone in hindsight. "I probably went too far with Madonna, and I got very personal and I wrote her—she was very gracious."

ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Awards Luncheon - Red Carpet

With the 2016 Academy Awards coming up in just a few days, all of the preliminary soirees, fêtes and luncheons have already kicked off, and Thursday saw one of the biggest events of the week with numerous celebs flocking to Essence magazine's 2016 Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon.

Everyone from Kelly Rowland to Zendaya, Tia Mowry to Keke Palmer attended the honorable afternoon, and of course it wouldn't be complete without some seriously amazing red carpet styles to top it off!

Rowland gave us major color envy with her super chic, high-waisted yellow trousers, while Zendaya opted for a trendy three-piece polka-dot satin ensemble that appeared to be right off the runway.

Meanwhile, stars Mowry, Shonda Rimes and several others showed their excitement for spring in some colorful, patterned looks that we'll definitely try to mimic as the days get a bit warmer.

MTN pays N50 Billion & Withdraws Lawsuit against NCC

MTN Nigeria has paid the sum of N50billion to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The firm company has also withdrawn its lawsuit against the NCC at the Federal High Court of Lagos.

The NCC had imposed a N1.04 trillion fine on MTN Nigeria in October 2015 for its failure to disconnect 5.1 million unregistered or improperly registered subscribers.
